Highland Energy is a growing energy company located in Butte, Montana. Highland is seeking intelligent, driven, experienced individuals to join our team and work in an entrepreneurial environment. Applicants should have at least 3 years of industry experience trading financial and physical electricity in the West and an in-depth knowledge of the energy markets. Of particular interest is experience trading within the California ISO ("CAISO"). Experience trading natural gas is beneficial. A bachelor’s or advanced degree in finance, engineering, mathematics or other technical major is preferred. Candidates must be highly analytical, self-motivated, experienced in deal origination and price negotiation, and strong communicators.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing cash and short-term power trading strategies that fall within Highland Energy’s risk management position guidelines for CAISO and other western market activities. The successful applicant for short-term trading will work to help lead Highland’s activity in the CAISO and other western markets and will:

• Execute trades with approved counterparties;
• Communicate market information to term and hourly desks;
• Demonstrate experience profitably trading day-ahead through prompt-month in the WECC region; and
• Possess a firm understanding of market rules and the ability to teach that information to others.
